Its not easy being a young person in B.C. You might want to go have a beer on the weekends, you might decide you want to buy those new shoes at value village, you might not have the money for those ferries over to visit you dying aunt. It just might be that your apartment is sucking you dry.
BC with its warm climate and wonderful nature why not move into a card board box ?

You don’t have to have a boring square either as you see above, you can get creative and make something you can be proud of.
Now, this is not the best option for everyone, for most this would only be a fad or a pipe dream, but for many that are sick and tired of moldy basement suits that lack insulation and serve you massive heating bills, the health benefits of a cardboard box home start to become a deal breaker for some.

Wow, now this is a charmer and only $569,00. This is one of those oldies but goodies in Vancouver’s east side. The listing asks you to imagine your family eating their meals in the huge rooms, or the fireplace crackling away… I can just see it now.
There is a bonus involved, the downstairs rec. room, laundry rooms, well as the author puts it “Easy to make an income generating suite down here”
Not only would you be so lucky to have a year or two of renovations and dealing with those great local contractors, permits and such, you can make a little tiny apartment downstairs, perhaps rent it out to some international student for $1000 bucks a month, then you will only have a few grand bills per month yourself. So its not a bad deal, you will only have one house mate and if you put up a double layer of drywall you will only hear a min of noise from the little people under the stairs. I bet your new neighbors would just love you for that, like who wouldn’t want a little bit of economic development in their hood ?

It looks like the massive job loss in BC, the dead economy and the huge burden of debt being racked up has not made a negative effect this month for home sales. There is no shortage of glossy eyed suckers waiting to pounce in this “buyers” market.
Realtors cleared a whopping 8,624 units this month. In Vancouver sales up 171% from the same month last year.
Is this a mini bubble ? Or do some of these buyers know something we don’t ? Like how to run a sweet shop in China somewhere or, how to make crystal meth ?
The average MLS home price was up 15 per cent to $638,948 and the sky is the limit. Someone some where is buying one of these attractively priced beauties as we speak.
Think of all the years of fun and joy they will have in their new home ! No more vacations, no more ski trips, no more flipping a bum a dime, nothing but a huge mortgage and debt. That or working 12 hour days, while your kids are being raised by a cheap nannie that can’t afford her shared room.
